Black Friday In Nigeria, who cares?

With so many advertisement, radio talk shows and social media hype about the forth coming Black Friday. Many people remain indifferent wondering "Wetin be Black Friday sef?" some will say, "if the Friday like make e be yellow sef, e no concern me".
Black Friday in the real sense is a way of providing shoppers with the opportunity to purchase items at a very very discounted price at least for the last time before the Christmas last minute rush when the prices of items are escalated.
This Black Friday which is a very common practice in most developed countries just recently migrated into our Nigerian market, not only has it help make online shopping popular it has always help increase the revenue generated by the online market.

Nigeria's largest online store recently released its report showing how well the Black Friday sale has been since its inception.
In anticipation of the biggest online sale in Nigeria, Yakata (their own name for Black Friday sale) 2015 here is a flashback to the facts and figures of Yakata 2014. The 2014 Yakata Sales promo offered up to 70 per cent savings on select items across categories. Some of the hottest deals available on the site during the period included the Haier Thermocool 3KVA remote control generator which sold at about N49,000 at a discount of almost 60 percent; and the Lenovo A3300 tablet which sold at N17,000 instead of N28,000.

During Yakata 2014, Konga.com recorded sales of more than N600 million while delivering revenue in excess of N200 million for its merchants daily. It was processing sales in excess of N50 million per hour during the peak periods of the two days of the sales promo. The 2014 Yakata Sales registered a record-breaking 1,440 per cent year on year increase in online revenue over its 2013 edition. Also Konga sold 500 per cent more items in the two days of Yakata sales than it did in all of 2012.

These figures however are just a tip of the iceberg of the anticipated Yakata 2015.With the rapid growth of e-commerce in Nigeria in the past year, the 2015 edition Yakata will certainly going to be mind-blowing with unbelievable discounts across fully stocked categories.

When you look at figures like this, you sef go dey wonder wetin u dey use your life do. So it is either you are buying, or selling, or helping people buy and collect small commission for your internet connection abi na or you just dey sit down dey look when people buy finish you go come buy from them as second hand, all join.

This just what Konga has made so far, I wonder what will happen when Jumia release their own report.
Advice: If you are thinking of buying any product just exercise a little patience and purchase it during the Black Friday sale which begins on the 26th of November and ends on the 27th of the same month.
